About

Equorum Horse Refuge is a fully registered charity with deductible gift recipient status set up to help horses. We are a "doing" charity which means the goal for horses coming here are for them to be rehabilitated, retrained and rehomed with our main focus on Off the Track horses in need. We give all arrivals to the farm a thorough checkover to assess any immediate needs and concerns before they enjoy a nice holiday and we plan what is their likely path forward for retraining to suit their capabilities and temperament. Our re-training process varies for each horse but they will be educated to suit many disciplines and targeted to what they show us is the best fit for them.

Our retraining and rehoming process is extensive, most horses will spend at least 3 months in full work being educated and constantly assessed for temperament, trainability and suitability, we want to ensure the horse and rider are a good match  and offer a comprehensive helpline to ensure the transition to their new owner is a positive experience for all with full disclosure of all aspects of the horses training personality and quirks along with full health history.

We are located on 160 acres in the picturesque Gooram Valley in the foothills of the Strathbogie Ranges,  an easy 2 hour drive down the Hume from Melbourne in the heartlands of horse Country in North East Victoria. The farm has lovely facilities for horses with many turnout paddocks, individual paddocks and yards including vet facilities and a lovely big 12 horse stable complex with washbay, tie ups and tack room. We have a 20m rubber lined roundyard, 6 horse walker, grass riding arena, Cross country paddock and we are  in the process of installing a state of the art 80m x 30m All weather Fibre Arena along with further sheds storage of hay feed and machinery. We have some awesome quiet country roads and farms who allow us to ride out on a trail in the hills surrounding us as well.
